Does anybody else prefer the Viz Dub over the Dic Dub?

As far as English Dubs go I prefer the Viz Dub. The content is not heavily edited,They keep the characters names intact and the cast is much better IMO.I think some of the actors from the Dic Dub were ok,but most of them were terrible most of the actors voices look weird with the characters, are over the top and some of them sound too old as the character, but I think all the actors voices in the viz dub fit the characters.
What do you guys think?

I would think most people would prefer the new dub as it is faithful to the original show and is well cast and directed.
Some of the older dub is fine but because of the editing, it is a compromised version. And the new dub mimics the Japanese dialog whereas the old one sounds very Americanized.
To me the newer Viz dub is up to par with the standard for anime released in north america today. Dual language option on the dvd/blu ray, english dub doesn't censor or change anything plot wise.
The first Sailor Moon dub was done at a time when reediting anime and not making the japanese audio available was not yet considered blasphemy.

Its nice to hear a positive comment regarding the Viz Dub because here and on some youtube vids that compare the voices from the Dubs it seems like lots of people hate the Viz Dub because its not the one they grew up watching. I hope more people give the Viz Dub a chance and enjoy it.

Oh come on, there's an whole website called Sailor Moon Uncensored which is dedicated to hating nitpicking everything about the Dic Dub because it dared to be different and it doesn't meet their weaboo standards. Its more common and popular to prefer the Viz Dub because God help you if you try to defend the Dic Dub. Its much more common and popular to be negative about the Dic Dub when it actually wasn't that bad of a dub. It did things differently. Faithfulness can be overrated sometimes. Some things from the Japanese version cannot be directly translated well into an English context. Stephanie Sheh is great and all, but sometimes she tries too hard to sound like the Japanese version which can sound unnatural in English. If it was actually in Japanese it would work more, but she's speaking English which should be spoken differently than the Japanese style.
Tracey Moore and Terri Hawke used a more natural-sounding English voice, poured their own personal charm into the dub and made Usagi/Serena their own character. Not that I'm saying that the Dic Dub has absolutely nothing wrong with it, there's plenty of cringeworthy things about it, but people tend to accentuate the negative, remember only the bad, and also label the decent quality stuff as also bad for the wrong reasons (because it was different).

I was never a fan of any of Usagi s actresses before Stephanie Sheh. Also there were only a few people in the did dub I thought were good fits, but I like the Viz cast

I'll always love the DiC dub because it was the one I grew up with, even have some of the episodes on videos I found as a kid, but man I was actually blown away by how much I liked the new dub! I couldn't get into the original Japanese version because I didn't like reading the subtitles, so I was really surprised when I found out just how much was edited out. There are some parts I prefer in the original (mostly for the music) but otherwise I really love what Viz has done.

Aside from episode 1, I haven't seen the Viz dub of Sailor Moon. I think it's really good, though. I might check out more of it.
I'm not sure why the DIC dub gets so much hate, though. It's not as bad as everyone says it is. In fact, despite some of the cheesy dialogue, I think it's excellent.

Its not just cheesy dialogue though, its way different from the original

The only things I really miss from the original DIC dubbing are the music and some of the characters' names. Most of the English dialog was pajnfully stupid.
... As it turns out, Amy's name in the Japanese version is Ami, so the difference for Sailor Mercury is negligible. I like Serena more than Usagi, but that's probably because I'd rather not be reminded of a ninjitsu rabbit everytime I hear her name. I don't hate Usagi Yojimbo, I just don't think the name fits a female character well. And yes, I know Usagi means bunny or rabbit! I'm not an idiot!
Sometimes I get nostalgic for Molly's voice interestingly enough even thoufh I found hers to be one of the most annoying. *beep* chocolate-parfait-loving bimbo.)

Yes. After all, Dic is responsible for the god awful Super Mario Bros Super Show.
