The Nostalgia critic review

It was very funny (the Darth Vader, Transformers and The Return of the Jedi joke)...But, honestly, it had little to do with Sailor Moon.

I was actually annoyed by how uninformed he was (the Sailor V remark - I mean, was that suppose to be intentionally stupid for comedy sake?), and would constantly correct him. I get the impression that he only saw the first season. And the English dub only. And not even the end of the first season.

I can't believe he didn't even mention the dramatic-epic finale...I can't believe he didn't even mention a single great joke from the anime...I can't believe he didn't even mention a single emotional moment...I can't believe he didn't even mention a single greatest quote from the first season ("I want to die in beauty")...And I can't believe he didn't even mention the humanization of the villain, something unheard of for you run-of-the-mill super-hero stories (in first season alone we had Nephrite sacrifising himself because he felt emotion for Naru, his enemy).

I know Doug is just relaxing and entertaining his audience, as always. But I still have to say, I guess we agree to disagree. He just took the story at the superficial level, without acknowledging deeper layers within it.

It felt like he simply saw the first episode dub and then looked up a fan site to get some random facts, but hey, it was still really funny.

Flower power is too much for the dragonzord!

reply

Yeah, I guess it was probably something like that. He didn't really see all of the episodes, just a sample.

His site has other reviewers better equipped to review a show like sailor moon.

Yeah it was pretty obvious that he did only see the first couple of episode of the dub. What disturbed me more is that he wondered why Usagi could not turn into Godzilla with the pen.....It is called the disguise pen not the shape shifting pen. He wasn't that hard on it though. It shouldn't be taken too seriously because he didn't watch the sub or read the manga. The show does have its flaws though.

RIP Cory Monteith your fans miss you dearly

What do you expect? Doug is perhaps the most miserable human being ever. Period. RIP Nostalgia Critic.

Yeah even if you had ignored that he clearly only watched the first four to five episode at bests (he put way to much emphasis on Jedite even though Jedite only last for 10 episodes and is a minor character in the grand scheme of things) his review was also filled with slut shaming, baseless assumptions , and bisexual erasure
