"And your worst enemy!"
"Same difference!"

no kidding! i never saw the movie, but i saw previews and it looked pretty scary. actually, i'm glad i found this movie. i've been searching for this movie for 10 years because i forgot the title.

This used to scare the piss out of me as a kid, but now I love it!! Too bad Disney is ashamed of it because it's "too scary..." Bah. I love how far it strays from the conventional Disney toon, borderlining 7 minute horror movie! I just downloaded it from WinMx and can't stop watching it. It's the perfect blend of humor, action, horror and inside jokes and visual gags- I reccommend it to everyone!

Yeah, I renember seeing this with George of the jungle. There was really creepy backgrounds in the labrotory sequence. Nobody in the theatre laughed or made any comments at all. i don't know where this film belongs, you can't call it adult mickey mouse or give it to kids...

But I wonder; what became of Dr. Frankenollie? All I can recall was that he was in the blast where the brains were swapped.

Oh, how I long for the days of enchantment and beauty, AKA, the eighties.

I remember seeing a commercial for this on tv a long time ago when I was about 6, I loved it like I did with other unusual things and ended up sitting on the couch waiting to watch the commercial again.

reply

that's exactly how i was like, and i've been trying to see the whole thing ever since. i can't find it anywhere like limewire or youtube, but i saw a music vid someone made and it just made me wanna watch it EVEN MORE!

I saw some sort of short preview or commercial for this on the disney channel (it must have been in 1994 or 1995). I thought it looked good but never saw it anywhere ever again, forgot the title, and could never find it until now. I always thought it was a full length movie, too. Now that I have watched it, it's one of the weirdest Disney cartoons I've seen. Probably the darkest part was when Mickey picks up the monkey and his skin falls apart and you see a skeleton. Pretty good!

By the way, search for "Runaway Brain" under Google Videos to find it.

Dr. Frankenollie Died...
lol, yeah, burned to a crisp, Mickey was talking to him and picked up his charred body only to have all his skin fall off the bones in Ashes (I thought it was hilarious). I just watched the short again on You Tube and I loved it! But yeah, when I was a Kid watching this in the movie theater this film was horrifying. It's hilarious thinking back on it.

I do wish Disney had more Cartoons and things that they Market to Adults and Teens like they do in Japan. (In using comedy cartoons like Cartoon Network has with Adult Swim, and not fake targeting like High School Musical. I'm not saying it should go, I'm just saying it shouldn't count because it doesn't really target teens and adults)

Seriously! I remember seeing it before "A Kid In King Arthur's Court" and crying so much that my parents had to take me out of the theater so I could calm down. I totally flipped my lid. I kind of want to see it again to see what it's like now!

I have always found this to be THE BEST Mickey Mouse cartoon ever made. I love horror movies and this is a brilliant mix of horror and action, and some ocassional comedy. It's dark and twisted and absolutely NOTHING you'd expect from Disney. The animation is nothing less than breathtaking, the high speed chase on the street grabbed hold of me and screamed BRILLIANCE. Watch it, and watch it again. OH, and to answer a question that was posted but remains unanswered: Dr. Frankenollie died. After the explosion Mickey grabs hold of him and picks him up, just to see his entire skeleton slip out of his skin. Like i said: Dark stuff.

I saw a preview for this as a kid and it scared the piss outta me, i'm going to watch it right now I'VE FORGOTTEN THE NAME FOR TEN FRICKIN YEARS!!

reply

Just watched it, and I must say that it was really great. But I remembered how much it scared me as a kid. Especially the scene where Mickey, as a monster, grabbed the scientist and his skin fell off. That was really scary for me back then

this cartoon is amazing :) its a shame we'll never get to see another materpeice like this again :(

reply

It scared the pants off me too, I was 5 and it was on before A Goofy Movie in the UK.

reply

I remember being 5 and watching this before a goofy movie, it terrified me. I can't bring myself to watch it now. Seriously I have the link right there on youtube, but I am afraid it might bring up bad memories which might lead to other bad memories.

Yeah, this scared the *beep* out of me when I was a kid. And I couldn't remember the title for YEARS, so I eventually thought it was just a nightmare I'd had. 'Cause come on, Mickey turning evil and trying to kill people?! That hadda be a nightmare.

Then I FINALLY found it (on TV Tropes, no less, as the page picture for Nightmare Fuel: Disney), and watched it for the first time since I was a child. Thought it was really awesome, but still pretty damn creepy.
