Didn't the doctor tell Ellen that Herod's men burned her Father's body until there was nothing left? In the flashback at the end, it looked like Herod and his men rode off as soon as the Marshall was dead.

Not a major point, but still....

The doctor also said they destroyed his tombstone, implying that they came back and dug him up (then burned the body).
