Stylish and filled to the brim with coolness. I'm kind of surprised that the imdb rating is only 6.3. I expected it to be at least 7. Yes, The Quick and the Dead is style over substance but what a style!

I agree. I think the schtick humor makes people take it less seriously than other films. Wasn't Hackman just as good in Q.&D. than in Unforgiven?

I think Hackman's better in TQ&TD.
It's my favourite film ever, some of that admittedly due to the presence of Russell Crowe. But whatever... nuff said.

At 6.3/10 yes I'd say it's underrated, it's really a fine western movie. In a way it's a spoof of the entire western genre, but it does it so well that it actually surpasses most western movies.
Both the cinematography and the story pacing is excellent, the movie is beautifully shot and creatively edited which sets it apart from most western movies which I find are usually shot and edited in only the most basic way. The story is pure cheese but a lot of fun, and the acting is totally decent. I gave it an 8 out of 10.
