I was just re-watching the movie on AMC. During the scene where Cort and "The Lady" are suppose to be dueling but don't draw; when Herod starts counting down, Cort clearly screams "Draw on me Ellen!" How does he know her real name? In fact, am I wrong in saying that is the only time her real name is said?

I watched the scene. It's hot and Crowe and Stone have great chemistry. What I don't get is why was Cort in the bordello. The site linked to the FAQ says Herod's men capture him there. He was still supposed to be a man of God, wasn't he?
It says Raimi cut the scene to get an R rating. Surely only a few seconds could have been cut to ensure an R.
I'm glad he cut it though. The movie is kind of surreal and mystical. A love scene is unneccesary and formulaic in a bad way: hot co-stars must have romance. I like them both more mysterious and undeveloped for this kind of film.
Also, the way she took possession of Cort and what they must've been doing in that locked room would have gotten back to Herod and would have to have been addressed in some way. Too much of a distraction from the plot.
It's my understanding that Herod's men took Cort into the Bordello to torment and humiliate him some more. They'd paid for a whore and were trying to force him do the business with her - that's why they were hitting him when Ellen burst into the room. She rescued him from that.
