Flawed Ending

The violence and danger of prostitution are well portrayed but Bretts reaction is puzzling. Surely the instinctive and sensible approach is to develop a circle of punters he can trust which would not be too difficult for a good looking boy. Also he only needs to continue the trade until he is 18 when he can obtain a work permit. No doubt the ending was chosen for dramatic effect and to please the 'moral majority'. His position is better than that of unattractive looking boys who would probably have to resort to robbery or some other criminal activity.
