I can't even watch this movie on Youtube without the fanatics everywhere

People going "OMG I HATE HUMANITY THEIR SO EVIL, THEY TRY TO DESTROY WHAT IS BEAUTIFUL AND HATE THOSE WHO R DIFFERENT!!11!11!"

"OMG JEREMY IS GORGEOUS I WOULD OF SAT WITH HIM AT LUNCH!!!!11"

"I WOULD HAVE BROKEN THOSE BULLYS JAWS FOR TREATING HIM THAT WAY!1!11!!!"

need to shut up, seriously. I can't stand these high and mighty, smug fanatical types who think they're so far above the rest of humanity just because, exactly like the director wanted, they felt sorry for Jeremy (like we're supposed to as viewers, feel sympathy for the mistreated hero) and that wishing violence or anything bad upon people who we don't like or treat others badly is truly the way to stoping violence and cruelty.

Yeah, hate and violence always end hate and violence. The hypocrites who "hate" humanity probably hate themselves for being so disgustingly hypocritical. I've noticed a lot of types who like these "outcast" movies are usually the ones who hate people who aren't liberal/atheist/nerd/goth/punk/hipster/materialistic/whatever like they are. Get a freaking reality check.

Anyway, it's a good movie (albeit a ripoff of Edward Scissorhands) and I love Mary and Jeff in it, and of course Sean was great, although I'd never heard of him till now. NOt perfect but good, except, of course, for the disgustingly fanatical people who think feeling sympathy for Jeremy like they're supposed makes them deep and superior to others or something.

I'm sure this rant will offend a few people but I don't really care. I just watched to get this little annoyance off my chest and see if anyone else agreed (note that I said if anyone else agreed, not anybody who disagrees and wants to flame for for being different than they are). Thank you and /rant.

Oh, well, now you know, and you can get off my thread since this has nothing to do with Powder.

Stop being so dang desperate for me to talk to you and get some self-respect, boy. Seriously. Be a man.

then you are violating the terms of use by using IMDB to post your views that have NOTHING to do with the movie.

This is the Powder of comments, sorely misunderstood.

Lance Henriksen is the best thing about this movie.

We're seeing the character through the eyes - the perspective - of the screenwriter and the director.

If we'd been shown scenes of kindly grandparents out of their depth with a scarily smart socially awkward albino scuttling 'round the basement it'd be a fright flick. Imagine how different a picture it would've been written and/or directed by Wes Anderson, Guillermo del Toro, Quentin Tarrantino or Sophia Coppola.

As for the stereotypical small town townsfolk - in 1995 few had the internet, but despite YouTube and forum comments making it appear that people have since DE-evolved, people today in 2014, about 20 years later, in general are a lot more aware, evolved, open to and/or accepting of that which is "different" which they can't "understand." THAT'S what's scary - imagine what 1995 humanity would've tweeted about Powder.
