Animals don't talk but trees do?

For me, a kids movie, must have talking animals.

Every man has two nations, one of them is France. (B. Franklin)

Not all kids movies NEED talking animals. However, the fact that they don't talk, but a willow tree DOES (in this film at least) admittedly confused me a bit too...

I am with the second poster ids moves doesn't need talking animals to be a kids movie, I mean wouldn't it make it trying for all kids movies to have talking animals in them

I thought it was a magic tree.

As far as I am aware of I have never seen it as a written rule for it to be a kids movie to have at least one talking animal

If you think about it, Beauty and the Beast didn't have any talking animals, I mean does the Beast really count as an animal? The only animals that I am counting that are in the animated feature is the wolves and Philippe.

My guess is to make the movie more serious maybe that's why they didn't talk.
