I went to a website that lists all the Disney Villains, and Kocoum was listed as one of them. Would you agree with that? I mean he was trying to attack John Smith, but I think that's because he thought John would attack him.

shareI don't think he's a villain at all. If you saw some strange guy kissing the girl you were going to marry, you would probably try to kill him too. To me that's legitimate jealousy.

sadly that makes him the "savage" John was calling them at first that upset Pocahontas which does make him a villain. Pocahontas did not want to marry him and it was obvious.

No..he's not a hero, but I wouldn't think of him as being a villain either.
shareKocoum was never intended to be a villain. He serves as an antagonist to Smith/Pocahontas' relationship, but he also does care for Pocahontas. He sees the new settlers with hostility, but it's completely understandable, considering the settlers' behaviour. The directors even states this in the audio commentary.
