was this ever released on dvd and is piranha 3d that will be in theaters soon a remake of this 1995 version

Yes, but only for a short time in the US. It's now out of print, and quite pricey.

If you have a code-free DVD player, you can get the British, (retitled PIRANHAS), German or Japanese import. It was also available on laserdisc in the U.S. on the Image label.

This version is never mentioned. Both this and Piranha 3D are remakes of Joe Dante's original written by John Sayles.

I got it on amazon.com for about 15 bucks...the price finally went down
