What happened to the little criminal Perez kid?

I may not have been paying close enough attention. I was doing something else while watching the movie. Anyway, the last I saw the Perez kid (the one they adopt to have a four-member "family" to get a sponsor) he drove the stolen car and his girlfriend to the beach. He then gets chased by the guy he owes money to, and the guy catches him, shows him a knife, and says "manana," presumably meaning he has to pay by tomorrow. I didn't see the kid after that. Did the guy he owed money to kill him?

I guess the scene showing them carrying the coffin out to the "Jesus" van wasn't explicit enough. (among all the other bits about the kid dying)

I'm glad I could help make you feel superior today.

He goes for a ride with a girl (girlfriend?) and ends up near a boat/ship where one of the thugs catches him up (although he tries to scape) and says ironically "man~ana" (tomorrow) as this is tomorrow - no money- he will be killed. Then it's a cut to the room when they are talking about his death. (was shot). Notice the colorful roller skater that appears throughout the movie when the kid is around, as a foreshadow or symbol of death...

LOL I always think of death whenever I see people rollerskating = )

Please don't be offended but something about that struck me as funny. People on these boards can be so sensitive. BTW I never noticed the roller skater. I will have to rewatch this movie.

I agree that with the way it was edited, it took a few minutes to figure out what actually happened to the kid. The rollerskating, (what looks like a) drag queen, is definitely seen in the first scene where the boy is confronted by his later killer for the first time, making strange noises and cackling loudly.

Good comeback yojim (love Kurosawa much ?). I am always disgusted by the cowardly rudeness of people "feeling superior", while hiding behind their keyboards & monitors.
