The worst movie ever

A few years ago I bought a movie with too many big stars to count in the dump bin. It looked to be a sleeper hit that I had assumed was just overlooked by the mainstream media. This turkey featured Ashley Judd, Viggo Mortensen and Brennon Frasier to toss out a few big names; it also featured a big glittery tennis shoe floating down stream, a lost circus in search of the shoe and a crazy old witch. Brennen Frazier does the best he can to breathe life into a freak of a man that punished himself by wrapping barbed wire around himself to prevent erections when gazing at the lovely Ashley Judd, at one time he masturbates while gazing upon her and then proceeds to whip himself. I can’t even begin to tell you how stupid this monstrosity is. I paid $2.00 for it in the dump bin and felt that I had been robbed!
My oldest son normally gets a chuckle at badly written movies but even he couldn’t stomach it. He felt sorry for the actors that were roped into such a terrible career move. If there were ever a time I'd wished I could 'un-watch' something, this was it. It is mind numbingly stupid and amateurishly done. The only reason that I could even fathom why Ashley Judd, Brennen Frasier or Viggo Mortensen even agreed to do this pitiful movie was due to poor management and or most likely all of the money given to make this film was given to the actors leaving no money for actual script, directing or props. Shame, with such a cast of talent this could have actually been good instead of ridiculously atrocious.

Great movie. I couldn't care less about your opinion.

Who are Brennen Frasier and Brennon Frasier?

Ha ha ha. A careful reader answers the cri-tic.

You're right. Great move and a great song in the closeing credits, 'Who Will Love Me Now.' Take Care

See I don't think that there was too much talent wasted on this movie. Ashley Judd always plays that same innocent-slut with the intense cries and Brendan Frasier is always that same boyish dope. Viggo Mortensen though, that's one fine actor, and in this movie he showed that he's very skilled and I think that as long a you show that, no matter how ridiculous the movie, it wasn't a waste.

kissitbetter, lighten up will you? Go see Last Days. If you have, now wasn't that a bigger waste of talent/time/oxygen/resources/blah?

Don't discriminate innocent-sluts, bro. Everybody knows that innocent-sluts are the best, yo.

Agree, Brendan is a one-note actor. As for Ashley I think that she just got typecasted into doing these roles she is known for (if indeed she is remembered at all anymore) which honestly isn't a fair measure of her capability as an actress.

From what I've gathered she's done just fine, even great, and I for one would have loved to see much more of her - particularly in better scripts. For some reason her career just stopped. I guess Hollywood still doesn't really appreciate women who don't exactly love being told what to do and particularly what to be.

I also agree with Last Days being a poor excuse for a movie. Still, it at least had some relevance to folks who appreciated Kurt's music. So, there was always at least that angle.

I caught Darkly Noon around the time it had been out for a year or two (or thereabouts I think) on the telly when I was in my early twenties and thought it was an ok film. Haven't seen it since but I'm pretty comfortable in saying that there is no shortage of much worse pictures than Darkly.

My personal favorite for worst picture that purports to be a great one is The Baby of Mâcon (1993) by Peter Greenaway. And I tend to dig Ralph Fiennes.

My two cents.

It may not be the worst movie ever but it is also not a movie that everyone will want to see or should see.

Our lives are full of choices. What you do with your time will, to some degree, determine your attitude and your outlook on live. You can spend the day at the beach or hiking in the woods or watching this movie. Each of these choices will put you in a mood. It is your choice if you want to be that mood or not.

While this is not the worst movie in the world it is also not the best. It shows a view on life. But there are many other views of life which are just as valid - some of them a lot more cheerful. Perhaps if you have never experienced this view in real life, this movie might be broadening. But perhaps you have experienced it and you don't care for it. Perhaps you don't feel it is necessary to expose yourself to it at all. Perhaps you want to fill your life with more joyful things. At different points in my life I have felt both ways and I don't see that one way is superior to the other.

What is certain is that this movie will not change the world. There is no reason why anyone MUST see it. Just because it is dark is not a reason why it must be seen. In the end everyone has to make their own decision about what they want to fill their life with. If you want to watch this movie over and over, and if you enjoy the mood it puts you in, or if you feel you get some value out of it, then go for it - that is your choice. But realize that not everyone wants to do that or needs to do that. Actually, if you love this movie or not, will probably say more about you than it will about the movie.

I love this film. Saw it about 15 years ago and was mesmerized by the acting, directing, score and closing song by PJ Harvey. I was psyched that it was recently added to Netflix Instant.

I understand that it's not for everybody but the worst movie you've ever seen? Really? I suggest you add Black Dahlia, Glitter, Crossroads and Gigli to you queue for starters, OP.

Aye.

With Philip Ridley's two films (this one and the Reflecting Skin), one should be taken into account: that the guy is different. According to an interview with him, he was always different. I read two of his children's books long before I saw these two films (Scribbleboy and Meteorite Spoon) so I knew that he was rather unconventional and that these filsm weren't going to be your run-of-the mill Hollywood style films. They were going to be artsy and focus on imagination rather than realism.

It's a dark and beautiful film which is possibly easier to stomach than Reflecting Skin. I have to agree that I lvoe the music that is played when the giant shoe floats down the rivers; such a beautiful style to it.

This is the film to see if you want to see Brendan move awya form his typical comedic style and he does it well. As for Viggo Mortensen; he is proof that he doesnt have to open his mouth to act. He is perfect in this and in The Reflecting Skin.

I think with this film, you have to see it more as a twisted fairy tale because in a way, it is not realism.

True, it's not for everyone but I'd recommend it to anyoen who wanted a change for once :-)
