Its a big budget ripoff. George A. Romero never got any real respect for this movie.

Do you mean Outbreak is a rip-off of The Crazies from 1973? Cause there is a remake of The Crazies from 2010 I think. And Outbreak is a totally different movie.

If you mean it's a ripoff in the sense of both being stories about fighting a mass virus/epidemic it's far from a new idea. For a start, Panic in the Streets and 80,000 Suspects predate The Crazies and I am sure there are numerous others.
