Iago: Villainy Marshmallows

This movie stands out because of its handsome camera-work and engaging cast but especially because of Branagh's portrayal of the iconic Shakespeare villain Iago.

Iago is a rabble-rouser and conspirator extraordinaire. He brings ferment and discord where there was once simply idle and harmless speculation. Iago is the Gordon Gekko --- from Oliver Stone's "Wall Street" (1987) --- of the old world.

Iago's lines in "Othello" (Shakespeare) signify a general social angst towards communication betrayal and etiquette frustration, and Branagh's treatment of the character brings out the 'cynicism muscularity' of the vile villainy that Iago represents.
