I Hope Gerda Got Her Strawberries

I just watched this - again - on HBO. I was still moved to tears. Being born and raised in CA, I never knew the real horrors of war. But my dear Dad served in WWII and was, in fact, in Germany around 1944 and 1945. My Mother said he came home a different person. (My brother and I were born years later.) He never spoke of what he endured. And I never asked.

I'm so glad Gerda and her husband did this film. It was sad and tragic but it showed us all a little of what went on during Hitler's reign. I remember seeing short films in High School of the Holocaust and remember well sitting there with tears rolling down my face.

I hope Gerda got her strawberries. 🇺🇸

She got her strawberries and then some. You should read her book.
