Whoever cast Rosie is a DISGRACE

It makes me sick that someone thought someone as heinous as Rosie would be the adult counterpart of the beautiful Christina Ricci. Seriously, for shame!!!

You have to remember tis movie was filmed 21 years ago now, and Rosie was just a stand up comedian , not that well known, and nowhere nears as big of an obnoxious Bit@# as she is now.

reply

I'm talking about physically. Rosie is so inattractive and Christina is really pretty, if not beautiful.

Did the casting director just say "Well hey, let's just make it that the character goes to hell and let's herself go, and her alcoholic husband takes to her face with a baseball bat"?

reply

jesus *beep* christ...learn respect.

Uh, by 1995, when this movie came out, Rosie O'Donnell was pretty well-known to a lot of the American public. She had had major supporting roles in A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN (1992), SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE (1993), and THE FLINTSTONES (1994), all of which were huge hits at the box office!

reply

I agree, and not just in terms of attractiveness. Rosie looks nothing like Christina Ricci.

I think that 1995 era Geena Davis would have been a better choice (similar face shape and hair).

Who wants to live forever?

Christina Ricci beautiful?!
Umm, yeah I guess. If you consider beauty as an odd looking chubby girl with a forehead you could park a truck on.

reply

You think Christina is chubby? I'd hate to see what you consider is skinny....

Should have cast Jeanne Tripplehorn for sure.

Rosie O'Donnell playing Roberta always bothered me. She looked nothing like Christina Ricci, had none of young Roberta's personality traits, and had an inexplicable New York accent. This had to have been a case of Rosie knowing someone who called in a favor to get her this role. She was totally unsuited for it. Sandra Bullock would have been great.

I think rosie was casted as Grown Up christina to show that With age...looks and beauty fades...As you could see rosie was Morbidly Obese...This is actually what happens in real life! People gain weight..people move to other parts of the country/world and develop different accents...I thought it was good they casted rosie.

Also on the contrast...look at the "fat" girl of the group, chrissy. she grew up to be thin. I believe casted by rita wilson.

Damn.. You all are so shallow. What's wrong with yall?

I always thought Demi Moore should have been Roberta, and they could have found somebody else like Brooke Shields or Jennifer Connelly to play adult Sam.

Yeah, I think this might have worked out better.

The adult Sam actually annoyed me more than the adult Roberta. Both were pretty awful though.

Melanie Griffith and Rita Wilson actually weren't bad as the adult Teeny and Chrissy respectively though.

R.I.P. Rick Ducommun and Tony Longo

Wow. How rude and shallow of you.

reply

Me and my mom always thought that, too. I think Demi would have been better playing a grown up Roberta.
