I can't believe...*spoilers *

... there aren't more fans of this film! I thought it was amazing! And, honestly, I promise you I'm NOT just saying that because of Johnny Depp! (although his acting was great, as usual) But it was really one of those films that left me feeling really happy and content - I'd really felt for Gene and Lynn and was so happy at the end when they were reunited :D Did no one else feel the same emotional attachment to the characters that is so rare in all the cr*ap Hollywood churns out these days? I was hooked from start to finish, I couldn't even tear myself away to take a pee, and was simply amazed by it. One of Johnny's best films by far.

PS. Completely unrelated but - I can only start threads, I can't reply to any of the existing ones.... does anyone know why? I used to be able to reply to them fine...

I thought it was okay. I really can't stand suspense movies and I was so worried about his daughter I had to fast foward to the end and watch that before watching the whole movie. But, in my opinion, he's done better films than this. Still pretty good, though.

I believe everyone is entitled to their opinions, but i dont know why the critics gave nick of time bad reviews. I thought it was great, Johnny Depp is an amazing actor, and this was a chance to show people that he could play the "normal" guy, and not just stick to the interesting outsiders he usually chooses to play. Great movie.

I agree with you. I watched it knowing nothing about it in advance, and I was absolutely on the edge of my seat! I almost couldn't breathe, it was so suspenseful. The script was amazing, the filmmaker built the suspense brilliantly, and every performance was top-notch! I've read a few critics here at IMDB who think Johnny Depp's performance was weak, or the premise of the movie was unlikely, but I couldn't see either one! I really think this is an awesome movie, and I also don't understand why it doesn't have more fans.

In my eyes Johnny's performance SHOULD have been weak. Christopher Walken was basically controlling him with the threat of his daughter's murder. I thought the movie did a great job of putting us right there with Watson and making us feel what he felt. And not once during the whole movie d I say, "Why did he do that?" I thought the performance was very true to life.

As for the premise of the movie being unlikely, I disagree. There's so many wacky people in the world, anything is possible. And besides, wasn't 9/11 unlikely?

This movie was definitely atypical of the usual Hollywood garbage, and it seems that anytime such a movie is released there are lots of people who don't like it, and I think it's because people aren't used to its style. They're uncomfortable with it, and instead of appreciating it for that very fact, they decide they don't like it. Personally I crave movies like Nick Of Time. It's definitely on my Top Ten Ever list.
