Not Isabel and Jimmy?

When they become married and she clean and cooks against his will... LOL

Well, Olmos says that this was the first time that he could not push someone around. I think he says 'Tony'. Anyone else catch this? If I missed something, let me know.

I know this is kind of late, but Toni is Jimmy's sister and Olmos's character was referring to her when she said Isabel couldn't be pushed around by Toni.

reply

I know who Toni is. Okay, why was Toni pushing her around?

I think he means Isabel. The arrangement was for them to be married long enough for her to stay in the country, but Isabel wanted her and Jimmy to be married permanently, so she just kept coming around.

Maybe Adrian meant that Jimmy couldn't push Toni around, since she had him get married, though he didn't want to.

Still, it looks confusing, since we see Isabel, during that part of the voiceover.

The original plan for Toni was for Isabel to only view their marriage as a way for her to stay in the country. She is so controlling that she was able to get Jimmy to marry a total stranger. Her plan was for Isabel and Jimmy to get a divorce after a couple of weeks but Isabel had her own views of marriage. She was more traditional and viewed marriage as being sacred. Toni is the bossy one and seems to be able to control other people but Isabel was determined to stick around.

This response is very late but here goes....Jimmy told his sister Toni that she had to explain to Isabel that he didn't want a wife, he only married her so she could come back to the US. He wanted Toni to tell her because Toni is the one who asked him to marry Isabel. When Paco said "This was the first time Toni couldn't push someone around." he meant Isabel wasn't going to let Toni tell her to leave Jimmy alone. Remember in the beginning of the movie, Paco said Toni was bossy? So even though Toni told Isabel not to bother Jimmy, she was still going to act like a wife to him.

Very Nice

Wasn't she still in the US, though? I cannot remember where she was being held at.
