I realize all video game movies suck but....

How is this not one of the absolute WORST movies ever made - I think everybody from the casting directors, to the producers, to the agents of the actors that convinced them to be in this abomination of a film should be shot.

Way long.

I think it depends on what kind of a history you have with Mortal Kombat. I am 24 years old now. I played the first game on Supernintendo at my cousin's house when it came out to consoles. His folks always bought him every console that came out plus a fux load of games. So my brother and I would sleep over at my cousin's house most weekends and we played Mortal Kombat andI couldn't say who was my favorite character at that time. All the following games too. Mortal Kombat II and what have you. Just little kids having fun playing these at-the-time violent games. It was the shizzle. Then the movie comes out. All of us went. Me, my brother, cousins and all. All of us kids being close to 10 years old. Packed theater. The movie starts, here we go. MORTAL KOMBAT!! Theme music plays. I get pumped. And you know what I loved it. It was a fun ride for a kid at that time. I remember when the scene on Shang Tsung's boat when Sub-Zero and Scorpion came out every 10 year old said both names in unison getting all excited and what not. When you're a kid that kind of stuff is what you got off on. I hadn't seen it in a while until recently on netflix. And yeah you can definitely notice the bad (terrible) CGI. And I really don't think the acting was too bad. It is cheesy at times. The dialog is pretty dumb at some points. funny at times. But you know what I still love it. I have good memories with this movie, the games, the days. Back In the 1990's.

As for being one of the WORST movies ever made. I would have to disagree because there are FUX LOADS of other movies that don't have as many fans of it like the way Mortal Kombat does.

But the sequel, forget it.

That was a big bucket of doo doo water.

Troll.

reply

Yes and quite obvious.

You're singling Mortal Kombat out? With movies like Street Fighter, Super Mario Bros. and all the Uwe Boll garbage, you single THIS out?

reply

Yep I did. Don't worry I'll make similar posts for Street Fighter, but Super Mario sorry would never watch that if paid...

reply

That's fine, but you've already singled this out as the worst. Video game movies are generally mediocre to bad, but Mortal Kombat is actually decent for what it is. It's mostly faithful to the games, and it's a fun if mindless action flick.

reply

I don't know man Street fighter,Super Mario Bros and MK movies are guilty pleasures of mine and a couple of Uwe Boll's vg movies are ok imo

i am fire i am death

MK is considered the best movie based on a video game. Professional critics and movie fans claim that so you're in minority sweetheart!

This is what happens when you make a movie based on a video game that is already based off a great classic movie.

For better viewing, watch "Enter the Dragon".
Mortal Kombat game was quite simply based off of Enter the Dragon, right up to Liu Kang's Bruce Lee sounds.

The parallels between the two movies are undeniable, except they took a detour through the video game medium. It was kind of destined for failure as it's already a third generation story, which already crossed mediums - If that makes any sense.

Well what are the use of my brains if I'm tied up with a dumb cluck like you?

I seen a handful of video game movies and I thought Mario Bros was by far my least favorite of them all. In fact, I saw it once and won't do it again. Resident Evil is my top favorite, then Tomb Raider, then Mortal Kombat as a close third. I heard people say that Final Fantasy wasn't that good, and I've haven't seen Street Fighter yet.
