Why do you think this part was added to the film - I mean, she seemed a bit interested in my opinion, (but I'm probably wrong) - and it just seemed a bit upsetting for the poor guy while in the end everything worked out for everyone else. So, I'm wondering why this bit was added to the film and what other people read out of it.

-- If you're not sure what I'm talking about Sugimura is the guy Yuko is in love with but who confesses he is in love with Shizuku, only to be rejected by her after saying that it's because Yuko is her best friend and she likes him

Aren't they just walking back with the bike?

Edit - was that Yuko and Sugi walking off together?

She parts from a group of girls and stands on the causeway alone for a moment, then he comes up and speaks to her and they walk off together .
