One of the best movies i've seen....

In my opinion this movie is one of the best. Upon the first viewing i thought it was just OK and cute, and as the more I thought about it I realized how great it was. It's realistic, beautiful scenery, sincere, cute, and has great morals.

Anyone agree??

Yep, one of my favourite films.

It is a fantastic movie, definitely one of Ghibli's best.

We have used IMDb for many years now so that we only watch the very best films, many foreign. This one belongs in the top 20 we've ever seen. 5 Centimeters Per Second is on that list too.

Yet it wasn't nominated for a single award. NOT EVEN NOMINATED! How is this possible??? It is one of the best movies ever!

I find that incredible such a Great film

Why does that not surprise me this is hollywood we're talking about. Just ignore it.

What did you want this to be nomianted for? The OSCARs are american, not japanese. How many Pixar movies have gotten nomination from Japanese movie awards at the time?

reply

It's definitely the most heart warming movie I have seen. It'll always have a special place in my heart.

I saw it on Turner Classic Movies as part of an "actor's pick" block they had going on. I don't remember the actress they had presenting the movies, but this was one of her picks. It aired at 1 in the morning or so, and despite the fact that I had to be at a work meeting at 8 that next morning (on a Saturday, no less), I stayed up to watch it as it was one of the few Studio Ghibli movies I hadn't seen. It's become one of my favorites, and I was glad I found it at such an affordable price a few years back.

In short: a great, very underrated movie.

Simply, one of the best animated films ever made. Ghibli is a master of animated films, and this one is no exception.

And this also has one of the most cute coubles ever.

One of the standout films from Studio Ghibli which I've seen. Nothing feels flawed as it had the capacity to entertain, mesmerise and provoke.
