Harold and Maude in reverse.

It took several minutes of watching this film to realize Woody expected us to accept his character married to a woman thirty years his junior and thirty light-years better looking (Helena Bonham Carter). The man obviously went off the deep end after taking up with his stepdaughter. Just because she found him desirable doesn't mean it looks plausible on screen.

I'd rather see Shirley MacLaine married to Jude Law, thank you.

woody was never married to mia. so soon-yi was never his stepdaughter.

are you saying that younger women don't get married to older men??

reply

I'm saying if you look like and are in the same age range as Woody Allen, don't expect a lot of Helena Bonham Carters in your future!!

ironically Helena Bonham Carter is either married to or just had a kid with Tim Burton.

hate to break it to you, older men get younger woman all the time and vice versa. Not everyone holds shallow opinions.

I assume that the OP regularly goes up to couples like Celine Dion and her husband, and says, "You do not exist!!!"

Did we see the same film? The Amanda character's looks were unappealing, and who thought up that hair? Gah...

Stiffy always paired himself with appealing women on-screen (that is excepting the Mia Farrow years), it's just that at some point, he started to look like their grandfather. I mean, there probably have been 60-year old actors that're believable in such a situation (Sean Connery?), but Stiffy sure ain't one of them.
