anyone out there like it?

I really have a distaste in my mouth when it comes to sarah jessica parker having a leading role in any movie. Life without dick, state and main...oh god. But this was pretty good and I thought it was funny and would reccommend others to give it a try.

I also really liked this movie. I saw it late night on TV one night and thought it was okay but nothing special. Then at a party later while I was drunk I caught it on HBO late at night and loved it. I bought the DVD off eBay a week later and now (along with My Best Friend's Wedding, Notting Hill, Four Weddings..., Amelie, and a few others) this is one of my favorite romantic comedies of the 90s.

Just saw it again for the 2nd time. I'm sort of secretly in love with SJP. She is so sweet and sexy. She really took control of this movie, and I love her hair. I don't care what anyone else says, and there are a lot of bashers out there. This wasn't a deep movie, but I like the Woody Allen-esque style to it, the characters' various neuroses and the voice-over flashbacks. Even had a hint of a CRIMES AND MISDEMEANORS subplot. Without giving anything away, if you saw that movie you'd know what I'm talking about. So I'd give the movie a 7. I like seeing SJP wearing as little as possible, especially those white T-shirts. That's really hot. Is anyone actually reading this? Mayday mayday. Echo. ...........a year later 2007 October reply. "yeah, dude, she's rad, really gnarly, jeeves.". I'll be in awe when that guy says this. I'll have my car paid off by then too. Ooh bonus. What? oh, just rambling.

I had a great time watching this film, tho' I missed the first part. I was sure this was a Woody Allen film.
Who is David Frankel??
Nice light romantic comedy, with a few profound insights and questing. Attractive cast; plots and
subplots held together. Nice sets and settings; but this was sooooo
Woody Allen, I can't believe it's not his - even the background jazz music...

I've always had a soft spot for this movie. I remember watching it a lot when I was little so have a nostalgic-place for it in my heart. In retrospect though, it's really not good at all, but like I said, I like it because I grew up watching it all the time on HBO.

that's my experience with it too, it's just a cute little film....despite all the messed up and serious issues they deal with...

It's flawed but enjoyable and a good homage to Woodrow. I'm biased being from the Miami that's often referenced throughout the film and having grown up knowing the Frankel family.

It is a good Florida film, too, yes. I grew up in South Florida--I lived in both the West Palm Beach area and Miami at different times, and I was pleased with how well they captured a Florida feel with the locations, sets (if any of the interiors were sets rather than locations), production design, characters, etc. Being a huge Woody Allen fan, it was fun seeing what seems like a stereotypical Allen "relationship dramedy" transplanted to South Florida. My folks are still in the West Palm Beach area, and they're also big Woody Allen fans, so I'll be recommending this to my mom later today. I had never heard of it before a couple weeks ago, and I'm pretty sure they never heard of it either.

I love the idea of Piven as the slovenly rebound dentist love. It's so at odds with my mental image of him now.

I like this movie, and I thought that Sarah looked so freakin hot in this. Gil looked hot too and they made a great pair. I also liked the story line.

So this is it.

I liked it, I thought it was stylish and attractive to watch, I liked the music, I thought the characters were fun, and it was overall an enjoyable movie, nothing great, but pleasant. I would recommend it for a romantic comedy mood, and it was classier than a lot of them are, though it didn't have much depth, in that it showed a lot of the humor of moving in and out of relationships, but very little of the pain. But that's the nature of light romantic comedies.

I avoided this for a long time principally because of Sarah Jessica Parker, but I've finally watched it and was surprised at how much I liked it. Great writing, terrific cast and a lot of extended scenes that are played out well. At times this feels like Woody Allen in Florida (not that there's anything wrong with that), and some of the melodrama is undercut by jokes, but this was so much better than I expected. 7/10 stars from me.
