Did Hooper forget how to direct? Did Englund forget how to act? WTF!?

Just caught this on the Horror channel. Firstly, yeah the story is ridiculous, but that doesn't mean it has to look like a piece of *beep* and it's actually got a bunch of good actors. But pretty much everyone is terrible (not in a so bad it's good way) and there's no sign of Hoopers style anywhere. I'm surprised to see people actually defending this piece of *beep*

I can't believe the director of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the iconic villains of Nightmare on Elm Street and Silence of the Lambs and the writer of classics like The Shining combined to make this...on paper it looks beautiful, on the screen it's possibly one of the worst films I've ever seen.
