Anyone Notice This Goof? I don't see it listed

During the beginning of the movie when Jeremy London sees Ehtan Suplee staring at the sailboat picture, Ethan Suplee says, "I've been staring at this thing every day for a week from open to close and I still can't see the sailboat! But today's the day. I got a sandwich and a soda and I'm gonna see it!"

Now, if he was staring at it from morning to close every day for a week, why does he all of a sudden say, "but today I have a sandwich and a soda?" Are we to believe he wasn't eating ANYTHING at all from morning to close all those previous days in the mall?

It just seems like a misplaced dialogue to me. Wouldn't he have been bringing a sandwich and a soda EVERY DAY he was there from open to close?

Why do you think someone spending every day for a week staring at the same picture would be that intelligent to begin with?

The wild, cruel animal is not behind the bars of a cage. He is in front of it.

Personally, I assumed it meant that on the previous days he still broke for lunch at the food court or something, but this time he brought food and intended to stay rooted to that spot no matter what.

It's only a movie

Additionally, the statement that he brought a sandwich today does not necessarily preclude him having brought a sandwich on previous viewing excursions.

I always took it in the same vein as "I came here to chew gum and kick ass, and I'm all out of gum!"

Basically, something to give him the resolve to finally find the damn sailboat.

I always assumed he was eating passing children.

It's called a "urethra". It's a standard feature on most foot stools.

I also took that part as he was taking breaks and going to the food court for lunch or whatever, but on this day he intends to stay where he's at and have a better chance at finally seeing the sailboat.

Then I saw the post about eating the passing children, and I have to go with that... Only thing that makes sense now...

the real goof is that they say its a sailboat in the picture, but if you look at it properly, you will see it is a bunch of 3D shapes, not a sailboat. there's a cross, a circle, a diamond, a star, few random other shapes, but no sailboat.

I think he meant that he had left to go and get lunch in the food court and then came back to look at the picture again, so what he means is he's going NOWHERE until he sees the sailboat.
That's what I got from it anyway.
