I live where this movie was filmed :) Right near the station where she meets the second husband. (Note: that entire train line is no longer in existence, making the area even more isolated.) One of my elementary schools (19 students in 6 grades) is by the fishing village featured in the film; needless to say it's quite the drive to work. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful area that perfectly suits the atmosphere of the film.
shareI just saw this movie last night and I still have a knot in my stomach. It's hard to explain why, but this movie had a strong effect on me... I would love to live in an area like that... maybe because I've been living in New York (Manhattan) for years and I miss Nature and the Ocean very much... Out of pure curiosity, are you Japanese? Just wondering how easy it is for a gaijin to live there :)
