Halle Should've Won The Oscar For This Not ''Moster's Ball''

I think this is Halle's strongest performance ever in a movie. She''ll nailed her character from beginning to end.She should've won the Best Actress Oscar for this and not for the trashy ''Monster's Ball'' character.

That's funny. I said the same thing when I watched Losing Isaiah earlier today

I totally agree. She did a great job in Monster's Ball but Losing Isaiah was phenomenal.

think the Monster's Ball win had anything to do with her boobage?

This is one of those movies where the acting is great on Halle's part anyway but the film as a whole is not as good. They're elements of a film that make it worthy for recognition this movie is amazing but not quite sure if the filmaking can compete against its contenders of the time.

I disagree. I think Monster's Ball was so much better. This was merely an introduction performance worthy of a CBS television movie.

She won the Oscar for Monster Ball because of the sex scene. Thats my opinion, that movie was good but the sex scene was the reason. Denzel Washington had to be evil before he can take a Oscar. Just my opinion.

I think if anyone deserved an Oscar for this film then it should have been the wee boy played Isaiah. He was an excellent actor, especially given he must have been just a toddler.

I thought Monster's Ball sucked! I like this movie a lot and think she should have won an oscar for this performance.

I agree Halle's performance in this movie is MUCH stronger then Monster's Ball.

I thought I was the only one who thought that. I really liked Monster's Ball and I thought her performance was great, but nowhere close to the one in this movie. The scene where she's reading out loud from the book about the mom who cares for her baby and she breaks down and says "I killed him. I killed my baby. Just threw him away in the garbage. You got a book on that?" should have made the Oscar voters sit up and take notice.

I think it's so screwed up that she didn't even get an Oscar nod at all for this.

I agree, she should've gotten something for her performance in here, I do agree with the post above me. It is messed up that Denzel had to play a ruthless and all out crazed and menacing character like he did in Training Day to win an Oscar. What's crazy is that I LOVED his performance in that movie and I do agree that while she was amazing in Monster's Ball, her performance in here as incredibly good. Hell, a Golden Globe would've been good.
