i highly doubt this would ever happen but i have had some ideas for a sequel.
it would start out with the fire deparment coming to des' burning house and they find des and take him to the emergency room and he's actually alive and recovers. (anyone want to add on)

It's a great movie, and if there'll ever be a sequel, everybody will compare it with this one...
Besides; this film has some kind of message. I think a sequel will turn it into a "cheap Hollywood movie"...
They didn't choose an open ending for nothing ;)
worse idea ever to give a nice movie like this a sequel.. better thing is to check out other movies about troubled kids
