this movie left a bad taste in my mouth

literally...

i loved it.. but watching someone drink that damn much alcohol made me feel a little queazy.. i've seen it twice, and got the same reaction twice

reply

Well, some of us have actually lived that life. Imagine what we feel watching this.

If you don't get everything you want, think of the things you don't get that you don't want.

reply

That level of destructive drinking is supposed to make you feel queasy.

reply

Heartbroken is what I felt when I saw the amount of alcohol Ben was buying and consuming.

Queasy didn't come until Sera's rape scene. I still don't feel good after watching that scene.

Thanks for holdin' my stuff, fellas...
Now excuse me while I go save
AMERICA!

I think this is one of the most over-rated movies. add to that, Nicolas Cage hams, hams and then hams some more... and he won oscar for this??

I don't know, I kinda wanted to have a drink after this movie, even though I don't drink much, but all that different booze and cocktails just started to seem so appealing to me. And I know how wrong that sounds after watching a movie about loneliness and alcoholism.

It definitely makes me wonder if I'm on the right track with my policy of opening and finishing a fifth of Jack or Smirnoff every weekend. Watching this movie makes me feel like a wimpy lightweight.

The movie wasn't a feel good movie. What did the OP expect?
