was it love?

in a way, this is a movie about loneliness and unfullfilment and in the same time about instant love or falling in love with the security someone gives us, without judgement because of our lifestyles (which we chose ourselves or they chose us).
anyway... since she really didn't push him to get help, even though it was obvious she wanted to but respected his wishes, i couldn't help but think that watching someone fall apart in front of your eyes just isn't love! it may be an idea of truly accepting someone, but that means accepting that the same someone will soon be gone, without trying to change it. i don't know is it actually possible not to want to help if you have a lot of emotions for someone, it seems natural to want to get the person help, to want your someone to be healthy...
than, regarding his side, since he obviously fell in love with her (if it was actually sincere), wouldn't that mean at least trying to get rid of alcohol since new feelings mean, at least in a way, trying to be better because of that certain someone who cares for us?
long story short... is it love to accept someone as he or she is, even though it means that the person will soon vanish from the face of the earth? is it love to ask of someone we care for and he or she cares for us not to take away the source of (auto)destruction and by this decision destroy the relationship itself?
i'm not doubting the fact that they had a special bond and that there are certainly a lot of people in real life going through similar stuff, but he is on a suicide mission and decides to take her with himself; she gets in bunch of situations ending up embarassed because of him and still doesn't do anything to try to change him; while and he only thinks of himself...
couldn't help thinking it's situational love, and not love really. :-(
