I Felt SO old!

When I saw this back in '95 I was around 25 & I remember feeling Soooo old after watching it! ha! I think it was really one of the 1st times I felt the "aging process". I mean, these kids were so far-removed from my (relatively) sheltered adolescence. (& That's coming from someone born raised in the Bronx)

HA! I was in college when this came out. I did not feel old after watching it. I am originally from Brooklyn and now live in Manhattan.

I though this film was incredible. While I did not partake in the type of things the kids in this film did, my friends and I got in our fair share of trouble.

The one thing I thought this film nailed, was the intense loyalty amongst friends in NYC. The way the group of kids beat up that guy in the park. My friends had my back the same way when I was in high school. We never beat anyone up that way, but there were a few times when someone threatened one of our members and everyone stood up and the person usually back down immediately. I have always found that kids from NYC have a much tighter bond than anywhere else.

I was about 19, saw it on video, been enjoying it ever since. From Chicago land area but most of it rings true, Gus van Sant rules! (I know he didn't direct it but did produce.) Art reflects reality thus Kids is an art film of the best variety!
