Ending

Am I correct in assuming that Merlin actually sent Artur and Katey into the future in the end?

Or was the whole movie Calvin's imagination/a dream? Because in the end, there had been no earthquake after all...

I think that there was no earthquake in the end because it wasn't ever an earthquake - it was just Merlin fetching Calvin - they just thought it was an earthquake...

reply

I think he did send them into the future, yes.

I hadn't thought about the fact there wasn't an earthquake once he got back... hmm... your theory sounds pretty much right, though.

Best movie with worst ending. First of all how did she become the catcher? If it was a dream then wouldn't Calvin known that the catcher were two different people. Another theory is that Calvin has dementia. Maybe its like that movie 'Stay' with Ewen McGregor and Naomi Watts, where he dreams about the people that are around him.

More like Back to the Future. Imagine this, Merlin sent Artur and Katey to quite some time BEFORE the game. (to give them time to adjust to modern life, get cash and a home, her getting on the team, etc) So when he gets back, he'd still only knows how things were before he left and unaware of anything altered by them showing up in his new past.

Tell you what,it was a wizard of oz style "and you were there, and you were there" moment, very often used in films that have cliche's.

This bill is outrageous. If I were you I wouldn't pay it.

It's a movie. While it is nice to over analyze them sometimes, you have to sit back and enjoy. If you look too hard for answers, then movies lose the magic of imagination. They are entertainment.

She was a baserunner on 2nd or 1st. Someone put forth the theory that he knew a girl was on the team but didn't ever really notice her.

I believe that it is more of the theory of History repeating itself. I don't think the girl at the end is the same Katey as the girl he knew in Camalot. She is just a girl that he never really took the time to notice before.

Keep in mind, this is a simple kids fantasy movie (Not exactly "The Godfather" in terms of importance (except for the early career appearances of Kate Winslet and Daniel Craig)), but if you actually see the last 10 Minutes of the movie, you know that indeed it is Princess Katey (Paloma Baeza). The reasons you know that it is Katey, was that her sister Princess Sarah (Winslet), was given the right to choose her future and of course mate, by King Arthur (Joss Ackland), and she received the same right, the look on her face, and fact that Arthur was in the stands watching the game.

She didn't look that much older so I guess not long after they both asked to be sent to Clavin's time. I'm curious to how long had they been there. If she arrives a few months before and blended into the team without Calvin noticing.

I'm of two minds on the ending. If that's post to be Katey, why is she suddenly speaking with what sounds like (at least to me) a American accent? That leads me to believe it's a different character. On the other hand, they clearly are applying the "Arthur" in the stands (for the lack of a better term) is same Arthur because he is using the same knife that Calvin gave him earlier in the movie, so who knows?

reply

To blend in if it was an American accent or she was just British. I'm sure they are kids who are British that move here and still have they their accent.

I am curious that nobody thought they could have been great decendants of king arthurs court, such has been shown in several films before. That calvin and katy were destined to be together and met in the future as the modern version of the court girl and family.take for instance the newest dracula film (Vlad the Impaler) after losing his wife, you see him in modern time as he never dies, and runs into the modern reincarnation of his wife. Just a theory.
