Noah Baumbach's odd different story on the DVD

I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but I was at the Lincoln Center Screening of this great film last year, I even posted about it, and it's even in the trivia section on IMDB, but at the talk afterwards they were all telling the story of how the film got made and Eric Stolz was asked how he got involved and he told the story of how he was going to play the video store clerk, but then the actor originally playing one of the leads dropped out and Noah Baumbach had 24 hours to find a star, so he called Eric Stolz who was making Rob Roy in Scotland and said would you be a lead in the movie even though there's no part and Eric Stolz said yes, and that's how the film got made. When Eric Stolz told that story, Noah Baumbach and all the other actors all nodded and commented on it. I saw this happen. It was a pretty good story of their friendship and made me like the movie even more.
But then on the DVD, Noah Baumbach tells a much different version, he says that the movie company just wanted to publicize Stolz involvement more. That's all he says. He doesn't thank him or tell the story they all told at LIncoln Center or anything.
I'm wondering why Baumbach changed his story, is it because he's now married to one of Stolz exgirlfriends, Jennifer Jason Leigh? Did they have a falling out about that? Does anyone know?
Or is Baumbach just downplaying being at the mercy of a movie company that he hates, he's pretty disparaging of Trimark on the disc even though they gave him his start.
And judging from Lincoln Center, Stolz played a pretty big role in getting it made too.
I'm just wondering why the story changed and why Stolz wasn't interviewed on the disc, does anyone know if they had a falling out?

Hmmm interesting....possibly. Eric has been in every movie that Baumbach has made up to "The Squid and The Whale". However I don't think there are any hard feelings between Jennifer and Eric. I read that she recommended that Eric play her husband in "Childstar" and I think she was already going out with Noah at the time.

He didn't change the story, there are just two different components to it. One, is getting him in the film. The other is the movie company's desire to use Stoltz for publicity (once he was established in the cast).
