Why would Bobby Earl have waited till their second meeting...


...to reveal the prime evidence - i.e. that Sullivan supposedly did it, and admitted it to BE? If that was going to be your alibi, wouldn't that be the very first thing you told Armstrong?

And wouldn't a half-smart operator have seen right trhough that when he didn't?

Maybe that was the first hint he was the killer, and the time between the first and second meeting was when he made the deal with Sullivan.

He was playing a con. He took his time to string him along.Then started to reveal more once he had him on the hook. He needed to be sure he believed him. He was only going to get one shot at it.
