Is it me, or is this movie absolutely horrible?

I tried getting through this movie, I really did, but omg was it bad. The lead actors were horrible, especially the guy that plays jack (he is creepy). Was there a plot at all? The dialogue was laughable, and pace so freakin slow.

I don't often skip parts of movies, but this is one movie where I just kept on skipping chapters... then finally I just gave up.

Sure all romantic comedies (it wasn't even funny) are predictable, and even while most are, you feel all *fuzzy* inside at the end. This one? Eh...

Skip it pls. Don't waste your time.

This film is a wonderful, understated romantic comedy.

"The guy that plays jack" Richard E. Grant, is breathtaking as a recently bereaved man who has to come to terms with both the death of his wife, and the prospect of bringing up a little girl on his own.

The dialogue was indeed laughable, but not poor. Very many lines had me in stitches. Particularly scenes between Jack and his mother, or Jack and his butler, William.

Maybe you should try harder to get into this film, or maybe it just doesn't gel well with the American sense of humour.

Either way, I've watched this film many times over the years, and to me, it is still immensely enjoyable.

Agree with you 100%, though I am an American.

It was one of the favorite movies my mum & I loved to watch before she passed.

Quite the most stupid film I've seen in a long time, horrific death of young mother, is that supposed to be a comedy?

reply

No. That's kind of the point. I don't think this WAS a comedy. I don't see it as one anyway. I see it as a drama, with some comedic moments.

I agree partly on Richard E Grant... he creeps me out in a lot of movies, but I don't think he's a bad actor. I can tolerate the creepy in this film.

It wasn't your cuppa tea. Fine. Some of us enjoy a film that isn't exactly like every other Jennifer Aniston effort.

sorry, must disagree
