The song in the trailer

At the end of "It's My Party" trailer a song comes on. Its like a newer version of the song Its My Party by Lelise Gore but slower. Can anyone help me to know who sings it. I thought it was Milla Jovovich but its not. I really want this song, its sounds so sad.

I think it's Lauren Christy. It sounds like it anyway. She is an English recording artist who is best known for her debut (American debut - I think), song, "Steep". She kind of sounds like a cross between Tori Amos and Sarah Brightman. She's also done the title song for "the Color of Night" starring Bruce Willis and this movie I caught on TV once called "Seven Girlfriends" with Tim Daly. I like her singing voice. Here's some websites about her:

Happy hunting for the song! :)

Thanks for the help but I can't find this song for anything. I got on Amazon.com to look up Lauren Christy to hear a preview of songs on her albums and none of them sound like the song. One song sounded close but I don't think it was it. Sadness :( thanks though.

Maybe it's on the soundtrack? Or maybe it was Tori Amos! I really hate when they play such good songs on trailers or commercials or in whatever is being watched and they don't give you any indication of who it is! Arrrgggh!

Maybe if you googled: "It's My Party", Tori Amos, Lauren Christy, you might get something....

Well, I'm sorry to hear that Ms. Kimmy. If I hear of anything, I'll post it here. :)

The singer is the wonderful Olivia Newton-John...the song is Don't Cut Me Down which can be found on her "Gaia" CD. Hope that helps you out.

I can't believe I stumbled upon this thread, as I'm in the same position as MsKimmy. I saw the movie for the first time today, and I saw the trailer on DVD, and I too was moved by this haunting version of the song "It's my Party". So I decided to research it on the web to get details of where to find it, and I came upon this thread. Unfortunately no one seems to have the answer.

The song is called "It's Your Life" and is sung by Milla Jovovich. It can be found on the album "The Divine Comedy" under artist "Milla". It took me about three months to match the title and artist, but I'm almost positive this is what you're looking for. I downloaded the song from Itunes. Hope this helps!

This version of "It's My Party" was performed by
Rebecca Pollack, the daughter of Sydney Pollack.
It was recorded just for the trailer...

I've been looking for this song also forever since I first saw the trailer. I even went as far as to buy the soundtrack for the film but was disappointed that the only vocal track was "Don't Cut Me Down" by Olivia Newton-John which was featured at the end of the movie. I was under the impression that it was Olivia's version of "It's My Party" but I can't seem to find it anywhere. So I don't think it was ever released as a single.

Man, I've been trying to track down this song since I first saw the trailer in theaters 10 years ago. For a while I thought the singer was Jann Arden but having listened to it repeatedly I don't think so anymore. But it does sound like some fairly well-known singer from the time. Lauren Christy is a good guess too.

I guess it's possible it was an original version produced just for the trailer using a studio session singer. I do have a hard time imagining how the song would sound sung entirely in the style used in the trailer. The original lyrics just don't seem like they'd work for that style.

If anyone ever finds out anything please post it here!

Heh, I'm adding no value here whatsoever apart from adding a "me too".

I remember watching the trailer many, many years ago and being entranced by it. Having watched the movie - through countless tears - I was slightly disappointed not to hear it in the movie. I was even more disappointed after I had imported the CD from the US only to find the OST didn't contain the song.

I'm beginning to agree with other posters here that it was a session singer. If so it's a great shame as it's a fantastic version

It's Olivia Newton John, she was very passionate about this movie so she probably only did it for the trailer and was never released. You can listen to the song and tell its her voice..."Don't Cut Me Down" was to be the movies MAIN song though!
