It Takes Two/The Parent Trap

It Takes Two and The Parent Trap are almost identical:

..rich dad
..butler
..bitchy fiance
..woman wants to fall in love with dad
..twins
..camp

and it can go on and on. the only difference is that It Takes Two has the girls looking alike while The Parent Trap has the girls being actual twins. I just wanna know what you all like better? It Takes Two or Parent Trap. Personally, I can't really choose?

The parent trap, the old one. It has a charm you can't find in alot of movies any more.

When I was a kid, I loved It Takes Two and watched it consistantly. But now that I've also seen the Parent Trap, I appreciate that more. Technically, It Takes Two copied from The Parent Trap and geared the humor towards younger children (not to mention the stars of the movie -- the Olsen twins). And as another reply said (forgive me, I can't remember the poster's name), The Parent Trap is a bit more realistic.

I love them both. I remember seeing PT back in '98 in 3rd grade and loving it, I didn't see I.T.T until 2004 but now I can't choose becuase I've been a massive olsen an since I was 10, but I also like Lohan

I like The Parent Trap better.

I like both. I agree that It Takes Two is more geared for kids, though. THe Parent trap has more complex plot line, especially the new one (i can't remember the old one in a lot of detail). I like both parent traps (new one better though) and It takes Two, but I think I enjoy the new Parent Trap the best, if I had to choose.

I'll take the original Parent Trap with Hayley Mills playing the dual roles.
Brian Keith and Maureen O'Hara as the parents are perfectly cast.

I like the Parent Trap better, but these movies are so different, it's hard to even consider them remakes of the same film. It Takes Two is more of a rethink. A lot of things were changed. This was a cute movie. I liked it. But not as much as the other versions.

The Parent Trap is definately better, the thing about It Takes Two is it seems to be mainly based on the Prince and the Pauper and tries to hard to be the Parent Trap.

The acting is a ton better in the new parent trap (though I tend to like the original better then the Lohan version) this is due to Lohan being older then the Olsens I think.

Trying to get out the mind that Parent Trap is on Disney way too often, I think I like both Parent Trap and It Takes Two for different reasons.

Parent Trap I like for the cinematography. The special effects were done so well to make Lohan into the twins. It's amazing. As far as acting, in some scenes, the mood just got too sappy and dramatic. Parent Trap was the only movie I didn't like Dennis Quaid in. It was just odd, I don't know why. He'll always be "the rookie." And the kiss was way too long at the end. The butler and nanny played a important role in this one, without them, this movie wouldn't have been as good.

It Takes Two - I'm watching it right now. I see more chemistry in this movie. And I was looking at the scene where the girls meet for the first time. Initially I was mentally thinking "that's a special effect." But it actually wasn't. Kristie Alley is awesome in this movie. So is Steve Gutenburg. Olsen twins' acting is okay. This movie is a lot more humorous and cute.

I prefer "It Takes Two." Since the first day i've seen it I've liked it.

Kristie Alley was the MVP of the movie, she had awesome chemistry with everybody in the movie. I believe that Dennis Quaid's character was a better father you could tell that him and Haley had a real father/daughter relationship whereas with Steven Guttenberg's character he probably saw his daughter three times a year. He also did not have a natural father instinct when Alyssa switched places with Amanda.

Whereas Dennis Quaid's character knew his daughter's quips and idisyncracies enough to see that his daughter was not the same person after returning from camp. Remember when they were talking in the car after he picked Annie impersonating as Haylie from the airport. He kept asking her questions about how she changed and why she was so prim and proper.

Actually in my Opinion It takes two is a mix between the Prince and the Pauper and the Parent Trap.

In the Prince and the Pauper, the boys are not related. One is from a rich family and gets treated like Royalty, the other is from a poor family. They meet each other and trade places because they each think the other's life is better.

In the parents the parent trap and It takes two, two identical girls are trying to get their parents together.(or in Amanda's case the social worker). The same thing happens in the Parent Trap, except in that movie they find out that they were identical twins separated. The only difference is the girls are not related in It takes two.
