Greatest Movie ever

I have just watched Iron Eagle 4 and i Have to say I thought it was fantastic. Only Lou Gosset Jr. could get these misfits into hardcore enemy asskicking machines.

Sorry, I thought I was watching some bad TV show. It was like an episode of Stargate, without the stargate, and the regular cast and crew, and the sci-fi, and was twice as long.

hahahaha that is the best joke yet. this was a good movie hahaha i have to remeber that one. wait, you are joking right?

"To the German High Command- NUTS!"

reply

Stargate is epic

this is not

reply

IM sorry, did i hear right, i thought you said this movie was good?

Id rather burn out my eyes than watch this film again!

The 'Russian' jets are actually F-4 Phantoms!
Yeah, cos a TBF Avenger could survive an attack from a jet?!!
A pilot with very little experience would NOT be able to land a C-130!!!
Ashma boy would have died a little way into the film, for not being able to breathe!!
The plot didnt even make sence! Where were they off to with the Bio weapons?
'Chappy' is an awful cahracter, a cross between Axel Foley and Schwarzenegger!

reply

EXCUSE ME BUT I HAVE TO ASK HOW YOU KNOW THAT A ROOKIE PILOT CANT LAND A C 130 ARE YOU A PILOT YOURSELF THOUGH I DONT ENTIRELY DISSAGREE WITH YOU I JUST WANT TO KNOW AND THE LAST I CHECKED THERE WERE NO RUSSIAN JETS IN THIS ONE AND THE JETS THEY HAD ON THE GROUND WERE ACTUALLY F 5 FREEDOMS THE SAME AIRCRAFT THEY USED IN TOP GUN TO PLAY MIG 38S

reply

hold on just a sec! while this movie fell far short of the first one you are way off base if you think chappy is a terrible character and please explain how you get either axel foley or schwarzenegger to be anything like chappy. i totally do not see the connection.

reply

You are kidding right? This series got worse as it went along, and it started out bad. Bringing back a killed off character is right out of daytime soap operas. The only reason this gets a 1 is because the ratings don't go to 0.

reply

Greatest movie ever??? You gotta be kidding. No please tell me that your kidding and that it was just intended to be a joke!

Heres my views on the iron eagle series
Iron Eagle I--- was great I thought, good music for its time and good story.

Iron Eagle II-- was well written I thought and decent.

Iron Eagle III- I liked the planes in it even if except for the P-38 werent the "real deal"...story was ok but not anything to really write home about.

Iron Eagle IV-- Sucked hard core and only reason i got the DVD was to complete the series, i watched it once and it went back in the case and will prolly never see the light of day again. They even botched the scene from Iron Eagle II where Doug "dies"....unforgiveable!!

I'm sorry but Iron Eagle IV was just plain horrible, I believe furie was trying to close out the series and he couldnt of done it in a more horrendous fashion.
I'd rate it a 0 as well but they dont go that low so I too will rate it a 1

reply

But it's great because now you know that Doug Masters didn't die, and you can sleep safe in the knowledge that Doug Masters, for all film eternity will be teaching misfits how to fly combat missions.

It's great...it's like the "Saved by the Bell" ending...you know..it's like..OK, now Chappy and Doug are back together again and they'll live forever on happily!

Between you and me, Lou Gossett Jr. should have walked the minute he read the script and saw that the name of his school was "Iron Eagle Flight School".

To be honest the only reason I watched this movie was to laugh at it. I was actually going to try to write down everything I found wrong with it but i would have had to spend a considerable ammount of money on paper so I gave up. I am in the Air Force and while I'm not a pilot there are numerous things wrong with the movie that even an alien visiting our planet would probably be able to spot. I do think Lou Gossett Jr. is a good actor and don't really understand why he would stoop to this level unless he was desperate for work. I also think that one of the reasons the entire Iron Eagle series is so technically inacurate is because historically, the Air Force is reluctant to work with Hollywood when it comes to any film that tries to portray the AF while the Navy gives more support (Top Gun Vs Iron Eagle). To me the movie was mostly funny but it also made me a little angry because it gives the public the impression that our Air Force is a bunch of circus clowns. Here's about 1% of what was wrong with the movie:

1. They would probably be learning to fly Piper Cubs or Cesena 172/152 instead of AT6s to start with and there would definately be an instructor with them.

2. The AMMO they stole from the bad guys and armed their planes with (the planes that happened to have fully functioning guns) would have lasted about 3 seconds.

3. Sparking bullets. I hate sparking bullets!!!

4. Flightlines are "no hat areas" could get injested into an engine.

5. All sorts of incorrect uniform issues (shirts not buttoned/mixed uniform and civilian clothes) Facial hair out of regs.

6. Was everyone else in the world dead? with all the explosions, aircraft cannons and that vehicle pileup, every police officer within 300 miles plus the national guard would descend on the area. Actually they would probably scramble the nearest Air National Guard alert fighters to shoot them down to protect the civilian population. Oh wait I forgot.. The AT6s with the flight trainees would just shoot the F-16s down. How could I be so silly and forget that?

7. We don't have Jeeps like that anymore

8. Cargo on C-130 not secured on aircraft pallet

9. AIM-9 Sidewinder (Air to Air) shooting ground targets

10. AGM-65 (Air to Ground) shooting aircraft

11. switching from F-16s to F-5s

12. If you get hit anywhere with a 20mm round fired from an F-16 whatever part was hit will go away in a hurry. You will not just have a flesh wound.

13. Did the FAA take the day off when all these planes were flying around wherever they wanted without filing flight plans?

14. Were the AT6s nuclear powered? I never saw or heard about them being re fueled.

15. Even though Cuba was saved, what's going to happen in the ocean when those containers finally fail? Just wondering.

The movie actually falls into the 1930's B-movie genre and by comparison, it's not too terrible. you just have to change your paradigm and lower your expectations.

I watched this movie while I was hanging Christmas lights and copying it to DVD so I missed some of the scenes so that I didn't see any F-5s, for instance. But for the guy who didn't see the F-4s acting as Russian airplanes (MiG-21s), he should've watched the beginning of the movie

But, as for your List of Squawks:
1. You're right about the T-6s used as trainers. Who's footing the bill for that somebody is spending a lot of money for primary training.

2. Too bad the sound effects for the F-16 guns didn't sound like they were shooting 6000 rounds per second.

3. Gotta go along with that!

6. I thought the outside world was dead in all these action movies.

13. Two things here, This movie was made in Canada. So the FAA had no jurisdiction
Flight plans are not required in the US for VFR flight. However, they would certainly be a bit miffed about flying aerobatics above the airport without an air show permit.

14. Maybe that's how they kept the training costs down.

15. Wondered that myself.

But I did catch the paintball bullets breaking on the jeeps as they were being strafed by the T-6s.

As far as a student pilot landing a C-130 it's not improbable I landed at DC-3 when I was student pilot, so I don't really think the 130 would be that much of a change from the DC-3 really other than approach beats being a bit faster.

Even the trailer looks terrible.

If this movie had sold well on vhs, rachel mclish might of had the lead role in part 5. i mean they could've made just like rambo or rip-off universal soldier?
