what happened next

does anybody know what happened to the men that saved the horses when it was all over?

reply

I'd assume that they'd travel and live out their lives as free men since President Roosevelt had issued a pardon on their behalf. I'd like to learn more about the true incident upon which this film was based......it's really fascinating in its own right. I'm sure the screenplay was romanticized but the real story is probably just as interesting. The only disappointment I had with the movie was that it was not shot on location in the southwest US. The lack of ocotillo, sagauro, and prickly pear cactus was embarassingly obvious. No matter though -- I'm glad HBO got off the dime and released this to DVD. It's easily as inspirational as John Ford's "Sergeant Rutledge" or "Glory".

Six Actual......OUT!

apparently the story's not true--so, in that vein, you could make up what happened.

Filming in Australia? What was wrong with Arizona or New Mexico?

All I know is that we need MORE films like this one.I enjoyed Don's performance and the character actors who rode with him.

Even though the movie claims it is "based on a true story", there is no record that the events in the movie ever happened, except for the "Bonus Army" incident at the beginning.
