Katie didn't cheer when her husband died. She was the victim here, so if she did not cheer then we should not. That shows disrespect for her and her feelings. I did not cheer when he died as I had seen how much she loved him and really wished he would have loved her. It is the last thing she said before leaving his grave.

When Sharon asked Katie if Jimmy was how she got that black eye, Sharon was like, "You've got to tell Mom and Dad. We'll do it together, Maybe if I just tell them.." and Katie was like, " No, you can't. He said he was sorry. He wants to change." and Sharon was like, " But, he won't and you know that." Katie kept acting like it was her fault. Couldn't she see that it was his? It's like the abuser always knows where you are, who you're with, what you're doing. If Katie could just get away! They even should have had a scene where her mother called Katie at Sharon's house instead of Katie telling her father off:
(phone rings)
Sharon Liner: (picks up the phone) Hello? Oh, hi, Mom. Yeah, hold on, she's right here. (hands the phone to Katie)
Katie Liner: Hi, Mom.
Ellen Liner: Katie, I know it's late, but I just had to tell you tonight about me and your father. I finally took your advice.
Katie Liner: You mean, you confronted him?
Ellen Liner: I was really scared at first. But you should have seen the expression on your father's face when I really stood up for myself.
Katie Liner: That's great, Mom. I can't... I'm really proud of you.
Ellen Liner: I should have taken your advice a long time ago. We really love you honey.
Katie Liner: I love you. Same to dad. Sharon and Jamie say they love you guys too. Okay, bye. (hangs up)
Sharon Liner: She told him off?
(Katie nods her head and Sharon feels relieved)

Isn't that the same dialogue from No One would Tell? Actually I know it is....It's the part where Stacy was over her friends house and her friend was trying to get Stacy to realize what a creep Bobby was. Then Stacy's mom called to tell her she finally told off Rod....Good Job though:)

This is a really good movie.

reply

Yes! Because Katie's father was emotionally abusive to her mother and she said that's just the way he is. But that was no excuse for her mother to let her father treat her like that.
