'John' Played by an actor from Yorkshire. His hammy London accent was awful, as was his wife, played by a plummy Thespian. Ditto the bar maid.
Both not quite as bad as Charlie Hunman in Green Street, but close.
What's so hard about finding London actors for these roles, with natural London accents?
I agree, it's like when they cast English actors to do American character...like Jason Statham or vice versa with Americans doing English accents...I read that Brad Pitt couldn't do one which is why he was cast as the Irish gypsy in Snatch.
You would think that there are many actors who could do certain parts that are of the origin of the character they're playing.
