I.D. or Football Factory.

Please tell me which you think is better.
I prefer I.D.

reply

i.d. is more realistic and set at the time the novel of the football factory is. It is a better film!

reply

I.D.

FF!

Go Chelsea!

reply

I.D is a more realistic take on the subject and the characters talk about football in the film witch is missing in football factory, i still liked ff but i.d is just better story.

WE'LL TEAR YOUR SOUL APART!

reply

Actually, I prefer the workprint of Football Factory that was doing the rounds on the Internet two years ago! Its almost a different film to the release version, due to the differences in cutting, editing, and the score. Both are good films. One way to consider it - FF "follows" a casual type firm "supporting" a premier club, the other a non-cas firm following a lower league club... but who would run who, eh?

reply

I.D. by a country mile.
The only thing better about Football Factory was that it was supporters of REAL teams like Chelsea, Millwall, Spurs etc.
I.D. on the other hand was made up of fictional teams Shadwell,Wopping etc.
I.D. still by far the better of the two.

reply

I.D was much better imo, really good movie.

reply

ID, there's only one jerry edwards :)

personally I like football factory as a giggle and cos danny dyer is in it and is a good actor fullstop but the firm is a better vision of football violence

But ID or FF then ID

reply

I prefer Football Factory. What do you think about Green Street?

reply

out of them both it depends as i was led to belive i d was violent but it wasnt as violent as football factory but yet there was more of a story in i d than football factory so its half and half really however i like green street cuz there is a story and there is violence i mean when u watch a film like this about football hooligans you expect some violence i mean you got a little bit in i d but not enough in my opinion but it was a good film

just on a side note i have the firm, i d, football factory and i have seen green street 3times and will be getting it when its relesed on dvd
i was wondering is there any more movies from this genre(spelling0 as i find it quite intresting watching these movies plus a guy at work telling us storys when he used to go watching man city in the 80s with the fighting and such

Dyin' ain't much of a livin', boy

reply

I love I.D. and I love Green Street but I dunno about The Football Factory. Yeah its okay but I found it a little too much of a mainstream-larger-lout kinda film rather then a serious football hooligan film. The books better.

Anyone a fan of The Firm? Not that *beep* Tom Cruise film, the one with Gary Oldman and Jim McDonald in!

... YETI

reply

Frankly I thought FF was rubbish but I love ID to death. Sorry to the guy aboout the lack of violence in the films but maybe that is a good thing? You can go to a football match for that if you want it - or a town centre at 2am on a weekend. Fantasy football is ID's biggest winner I reckon. It's football for the linneker age.

reply

ID is the best of the genre. ID, The Firm, Green Street and Football Factory are the only British feature films of this genre. But there is an Italian hooligan film called Ultras, and a Chzeck one called Proc. I havent seen either, but Ultras is meant to be fantastic.

BEER *beep* & FIGHT

cheers i will look into getting them if possible

reply

I got a copy of Ultras (the Italien film) off Ebay.

It hasn't been officially released on DVD but the quality of the one on Ebay is pretty good (however IMO the film wasn't)

I'd rank the films:

1. I.D. (right laugh, 'we f@ckin' love you Gumbo')
2. Football Factory (get all those Tinker moments out!)
3. Green Street (some good rucks)
4. The Firm (looks dated)
5. Ultras (distant fifth)

reply

ID is much, much better. deeper, stronger, more funny, more exciting... FF is just an average film, ID is very good. indeed.

reply

Footie Factory brought me down a little if I'm honest. I.D is a far more rewarding film. The ending is a pure cake-icer.

reply

Please stop ruining this thread by mentioning Geent street which is easily the worst footie film ever.

ID is the best followed by FF then The Firm.

reply

i havent seen ID yet but i thought that FF was terrific! could watch it over and over again! now i am right looking forwards to ID as im renting it!

reply

Gumbo shouldn't have stole the jar of pickles.

Green Street is a comedy compared against I.D. and The Firm (not seen FF).

There are elements within both ID and The Firm that remind me of those halycon days of youth. Wearing your teams colours was an absolute must, even if you were involved with the uglier side of the game, until pubs started banning anyone wearing a football shirt. Nothing to do with hiding in the crowd outside the ground, just the eternal search of a few beers before and after the game.

And on another note, it was always easy to spot the undercover police trying to infiltrate the terraces. They were the ones not wearing any colours and all had pringle sweaters with a big bulge where their radios were "hidden". And they were unwilling to instigate any violence which was a sure way to get you in with the so-called ringleaders - until you had proven yourself you were nobody. Oh, and didn't know any of the words to the songs!

And finally! Lord Justice Taylor was an ass.

reply

ID is a *beep* load better and anyone who thinks ff is better is preobably gay!

reply

Is this a serious fuc**ng question?????????
I.D was, is and always will be the best football violence film, NOTHING else even comes close, and I doubt very much that any film ever will (if so it will come out of S. America or possibly Easter Europe)
Football factory was decent enough but it certainly isn't fit to be mentioned in the same breath as I.D.

You can't compare them in terms of realism because of the huge chronological gap in their settings.

ID - 80's lower league hoolies. The film was originally made as Play for Today, then transposed to film and finally released in the early-mid 90's. It is very realistic for its depiction of a bunch of hooligans who aren't the top boys, but go round as a little crew of their own. No nice clothes here because they clearly lack the funds to buy them. This is highlighted by their sh*t hole of a pub they drink in - and the fact that most of them work for a living, instead of dealing drugs or stolen goods or other similar activities like most top boys do nowadays.

FF - A very accurate depiction of a modern crew. All the best clothes, the attitude and the people are very accurate. Nick Love consulted heavily with some VERY recognisable (by me at least) boys from firms all over the country to do the fight scenes and it shows. The meets are held away from the pitch, there is a pub invasion (very common nowadays) and there is an unofficial coach which takes them all to the game.

ID is the better film for its story. FF the better for the depicition of the subject matter. I don't think ID is necessarily a football violence story. You could set the same story in Palestine with the story of a young Arab guy who ends being 'brainwashed' into becoming a suicide bomber or something similar. FF is just a football violence story, underpinned with a strong message about men's relationships with each other, bonding, brotherhood and the need for men to join armies or groups as part of the male bonding process.
