The Cat in the film

I saw this film several years ago, and being a cat lover, it seemed to me the cat was a guiding guardian angel to them. I was surprised to find a mention in a book about cats a year later that, in certain villages in France, they place statues of cats on their roofs, because they are seen as guardians that protect
the houses and their families!
