Anyone from the East Bay Area in California?

I've been saying for years how much the house in the movie reminds me of John Muir's house in Martinez, CA. It's a museum now, anyone can go take tours, and I used to pass it everyday on my way to work. There's just something about the house in How to Make an American Quilt that reminds me of the house I passed every day to work.

The house in the movie also had orchards or plants of a sort in the back that reminds me a lot of what i remember seeing in the backyard of John Muir's when I took the tour years ago.

I know the odds of anyone from the East Bay reading this or anyone who's been to John Muir's house reading this is slim...but anyone who has...what do you think? Or any good researchers out there? I've done a few random searches on google, but I can't find any connection between the two.

But I'm tellin' ya...if you've ever been to the house museum...you'd agree with me!

I can literally walk to the house they filmed this movie at in about 10 minutes. There are orange groves all over Redlands, but because of all the development, they are only on the rural outskirts of the city. The actual house in this movie is almost in the dead center of Redlands, about 4 blocks over from the Blvd. The entire street is on is very historical and the houses that surround it look very similar. There are no orange groves around this area, but some of the houses with bigger yards have a few orange trees.

Wow, it's been 3 years since I first posted this!

I'm watching this movie for the first time in a year or two, and I noticed in the beginning she says her grandmother and aunt live in Grass, CA. I wouldn't expect the movie to actually be filmed where they claim the setting is, but I've never heard of a Grass, CA...and neither has Google (It keeps giving "Grass Valley" and other things like that).

Is there a Grass, California?

I'm from the East Bay....worked in Concord, CA. But sorry, never seen the house you are talking about, but have heard of it.
