Reminds me of an American version of Joy Luck Club

I surprisingly went 21 years with out watching this film which is shocking because I love me a good female-casted drama. Such as Fried Green Tomatoes, Joy Luck Club, etc. And plus I love Winona Ryder. But, I agree with the poster who found her annoying. I kind of did too, but I also get why her character was meant to be annoying.

What are some other movies in this genre? Women telling stories of their youth to younger generation?

Anywhere but Here and Tumbleweeds have similar vibes. There's no storytelling but it's daughters understanding their lives through their relationship with their mothers.
