What Movies Have The Best Fight Scenes?

I have been watching tons of Kung Fu films recently and find it very frustrating finding ones with good fight scenes. So far, Rumble In The Bronx is by far my favorite for mindless Kung Fu (especially since random objects used as weapons which is awesome). The problem is the IMDB ratings and reviews haven't been particularly helpful in finding more like it. It often sticks me with stuff like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon or Kill Bill which use excessive scene cuts and special effects to make it look pretty without showing any martial arts skill. Or New Police Story which is a great Jackie Chan Movie but doesn't really have much Kung Fu. Then there is Project A and some of the Bruce Lee stuff which have lots of Kung Fu but lacks the complex choreography and difficult sequences of RITB and some other newer stuff. Then there are the movies with the stunts, car crashes and explosions instead of quality fight sequences such as Mr. Nice Guy. Fights in that movie were so boring.

The good stuff I have seen is Jet Li's Fist of Legend (except for the fast forwarding parts), the final fight in Gorgeous and the entire The Legend of Drunken Master movie. Fearless also seemed good even though it's very Hollywood. I'm looking for fight scenes like these or like in RITB but its been a lot of frustration so far. Does anyone have any good recommendations?

Ong Bak? Also if u like movies with just the fighting and none of that crouching tiger, hero, house of flying daggers stuff then look up some jet lee and bruce lee stuff. Tony Jaa's movies are really good too, but hes only got a few. <- Ong Bak 2 is coming out soon tho =D

Well, I see you included 'Gorgeous'-I saw that bit on YouTube & it was amazing, but IF I saw correctly neither one of them landed a kick on a punch but it was still great to watch; Now for really great stuff, you need to find Benny the Jet Urquidis vs JC in Wheels on Meals:

OR even Dragons forever:

They're both incredible;

I'm glad you mentioned Fist of Legend, it has some of the best martial art fights i've ever seen. I would recommend Iron Monkey and the once upon a time in china series as well if you havent seen them. A personal favourite Jackie film of mine would be 'Jackie Chan's first strike' The end fight on the skyscraper rooftop against the two guys is brilliant. Or if you really like just go back to the old school shaloin vs lama and born invincible type movies. Classic.

Jet Li is amazing...almost as good as bruce lee but with better choreography lol. just a few films...

Hero
Twin Warriors
The Defender
Ong bak 1 and 2 (Tony Jaa is the new bruce lee lol)
fearless
cradle 2 the grave (pretty hollywood but good)
romeo must die
kiss of the dragon
all the once upon a time in china films
the enforcer
unleashed
the tuxedo (some good scenes)
who am i (amazing roof top scene)
eastern condors
game of death
fist of fury

and an absolutely MUST watch, dragon tiger gate.

I'd say bruce lee is all action, bad acting.
Jet Li is slightly less action, but still good and at least a storyline.
Jackie Chan is just hilarious with some good stunts.

Just a few to watch in the meanwhile lol.
All these films you should be able to find english dubbed or subbed versions of.

The fight scene with the axe gang and the fight scene at the end of drunken master 2 are amazing as well as any fight out of the original police story

Sha Po Lang has my all time favourite fight in a movie.

Knife vs police baton in a narrow alley way.

so brutal...they pretty much put it together by free sparring with each other.

great lighting and music as well.

The Transporter movies have fight scenes that closely resemble Jackie's fighting style.

I liked Mr. Nice Guy's fight scenes as much as this movie's but idk, thats just me.

Damn, sitting here thinking about all the kung fu movies i've seen, i just realized, most of them are kids movies 3 Ninjas/TMNT lol, but i'd recommend Transporter 1 and 2 for good action/fight scenes, but be warned the plot and acting is so-so

HEY BUHHEAD! MAYBE I'M HER NEW BOYFRIEND!

I don't know why, but my favourite fight scene has always been Johnny Cage vs Scorpion in the Mortal Kombat movie. Maybe it's the music, or the setting, or the the back and forth nature of the fight.

Either way, if you haven't seen it, check it out, though I doubt it compares skill-wise to some of these Hong Kong films.

Personally I think they greatest fight scenes ever made are in the movie Knockabout starring Yuen Biao. Sammo's choreography was top-notch and the end sequence Sammo/Yuen Vs Lau Kar Wing is perhaps the greatest fight of all time(well in my opinion). You should also look up The Prodigal Son, awesome fights.

thought "jackie chan Wo shi shei" aka "who am i" had good ones. the one on the roof at the end is the longest i seen too. Mr. Nice Guy jackie chan's first strike was good too. anything with jackie will have some in it i think.
