Robert Downey so funny in this!

This is one of his best movies, I feel. He is hilarious and sweet at the same time. His wit is so quick in this one, like a camera is just following him around. Jodie Foster directed this one, and it is a perfect little film.
Mr. Downey is also good in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and of course, his landmark
performance in Chaplin. He should have won the Oscar for that, that year....

I agree that it's a great movie but I don't agree that it's all due to his acting. I get that you're probably a huge RDJ fan, but the ensemble cast is perfection in this film. Anne Bancroft is amazing as the mother; at times frustrated, ecstatic and melancholy.

The writing is brilliant as well with so many great lines. It's both humorous and serious; showing us what many families are like.

I do agree that his performance was stellar but I also agree with the other poster saying it was the entire cast. Great chemistry. Some really great actors in this. I love RDJ early work, especially Chaplin. I was so happy that he got through all his drug problems because I so did not want to see him end up dead. He's an amazing actor. Phillip Seymour Hoffman was a fantastic actor too and such a sad sad death.

Totally agree with you guys about it being the whole cast. I love each and every character. Especially Aunt Claudia. So glad RDJ is still with us, too. He is just stellar. Also Dylan McDermott...and Ms Bancroft...and Holly Hunter....hell, they were ALL good! lol

I found his character annoying. Who takes pictures of their adult sister in the shower naked?

reply

nope,
i found him very annoying
teasing with the car, scaring people inside the car - that was either 11 year old behaviour or someone on heroin.
