What was screwed up...

They talked of the USS Indianapolis bringing the components for Little Boy to Tinian. The movie goes on to say that it is torpedoed by a Japanese submarine while returning to San Fransisco. The destroyer was not returning to San Fransisco but was headed to Leyte in the Philippines to resupply and any repairs that was needed so it could go to Okinawa to prepare for the home island invasion. The reason it is considered the biggest catastrophe of WWII is because of the secrecy and screwups(the message they were headed for Leyte was indecipharable so they were not expected and when the captain asked for an escort that had radar capabilities it was denied), so out of over 1000 men only a little over 300 survived in shark infested waters for three days. And nobody was even looking for them. By chance they were found by an airplane doing a routine patrol.

You are screwed up also. The Indianapolis was NOT a destroyer. It was a cruiser. BIG difference.

Help stamp out and do away with redundancy

What is also screwed up is the fact that the movie NEVER said the Indianapolis was torpedoed while returning to San Fransisco...as well as what the previous post said...the Indianapolis was a crusier NOT a destroyer.
