Why is this bad?

I haven't read the book, but this is a decent thriller. Why was it panned so much? It is certainly one of the better movies based on Koontz's material, even if it doesn't follow the source material very well. What were people expecting from this subject matter?

I like the movie and the book. I treat them like 2 seperate stories because they're both great. This is a hell of a lot better than Phantoms.

To 666Night999 :

Hideaway is one of the BETTER movies???
Are the rest of the movies based on Koontz's books THAT awful???

Please read the book.
Only then you'll understand what you're talking about.
If you liked the movie then you'll LOVE the book.

However, I do think that Jeremy Sisto and Jeff Goldblum were rightfully cast.

The best Koontz movies are Demon Seed and (I enjoyed it). The rest aren't so good. Some of the TV Movies liek Mr Murder, Intensity and Black River where very good too.

Koontz is actually pretty good. This movie actually wasn't bad.

i'm a greast fan of dean coontz.and i don't think directors can do his books justice,so if you read the book then then expect the film to be as good you'll be disapointed too

if you were a "greast fan of dean coontz" you would be able to spell is last name right. its DEAN KOONTZ.
